Tears came to my eyes when I put on her dress. My baby looks gorgeous. I had to prop her up a bit but this was a rush rehearsal of sorts. I need to get Christopher some clothes.

2 down, many other little things to go!

I wonder where this bit of energy came from? I am finished, well mostly finished with Ashleigh's dress. I need to try it on her, then hem it! Pins are still in the bottom. I made it really long hoping that it will fit the chunkster next year. I even made the top, a bit on the large side. The waist band will pull it in and you won't be able to tell. I don't think I will be able to do this next year but who knows.

I cheated a bit and did not put sleeves on hers. Why? Well sleeves always give me trouble and I just could not deal with that today. So I may put her black top under it like I did in the photo. If it looks too old when photo time arrives I will throw her winter white capelet (I think that's what it's called) over it. It belonged to Alyssa and looks brand new or I can always use my trusty Photoshop to fix it.

What else to do? Ah! The Cards. Better get a start on them, that way I'll just have to stick the Christmas photo in them.

The Holidays are coming

I wish to avoid the holiday photo issue we had last year. Maybe this year the family & friends will get their cards on time.....preferably before Christmas. A couple weeks ago I spotted some holiday type cloth on sale at JoAnns so I grabbed it up. I got enough for both girls dresses. I am wondering if I should make their dresses in the same style. I am looking for easy and quick. Maybe I could just get Ashleigh a black top and make sort of a wrap around skirt for her instead of a dress. I'm not sure.

Anyway, I started Alyssa's dress tonight and although I am not finished yet I am a bit pleased with the outcome. She is still up. Excited as ever to try on her Christmas Princess dress. All dresses to her are princess dresses.

She loves it. I still need to shorted it and hem it. The neck and arms also need to be stitched but it's coming along nicely. Oh and I need to make a waist band to pull it in. She should be able to wear this next year. Less work for me.

Presents for baby

Not mine, but a friend who is due with her second boy next year. I was so excited for her, that I just had to make something. I really enjoyed doing it and may have gotten a little carried away. I had initially planned on just making some receiving blankets but this is what it came to. I really hope she likes them!

One extra large receiving blanket and 5 normal sized ones

3 Tri-fold burp cloths

Some cloth was left over so I had to put them to use. I still have some more cloth left from the other receiving blankets so I think I will make her a few more. You can never have too many burp cloths

Chenille/Flannel changing mat or lap cloth, 4 washable wipes and a burp cloth

This may be my favorite print and I went back the day after I bought this to get some more to make a matching receiving blanket and it was all gone! I'll check back again this weekend

Trying to be fun again

Since Ashleigh arrived, the kids have been somewhat deprived when it comes to going out to theme parks or parks in general, to play. So I am trying to do fun things at home. Once a week we now have a balloon party and a bath party. The kids think the Jacuzzi tub is the coolest. It's the perfect size for them too!

Anonymous I am from Trinidad also, and I understand what you're saying. I never speak of my father but no one can look at me and tell that I am of mixed race. Everyone is so "mixed up" back home that my kids would fit right in.

You & Keya are both right though.

Keya ~ I too see big Chris in the kids especially the girls. They have his face particularly Alyssa. His face is longer than mine and in that aspect Alyssa bears a resemblance.

Anonymous, I would take your comment as a compliment because I know my kids are beautiful and if they're all me then....hehehhee....then that makes me cute too!

You just never know what you're going to get when the races mix. And with us, the possibilities are endless as the kids grandma on daddy's side is half Asian and Caucasian. Who knows....something else may show up with my grand-babies God willing.

Seeking Sanity, thanks. As for what people expect who knows. I think some expect the kids to be a very light complexion especially when daddy is white. So they get confused. :-)

Sometimes....

I look at my kids and ask myself, did they really come out of me? My baby is getting to be a big girl, Alyssa that is. I had an early appointment downtown today and could not take any of my babies with me. Yes that included Ashleigh. The husband took the day off from work. I was so afraid. Why? because Ms. Ashleigh does not take a bottle. How come she was okay with it for the first couple weeks of her life? I tried to feed her before I left but she only nursed for a short time and then fell asleep. So off I went.

On my way downtown I dropped off Christopher at school. I didn't get home until 1pm. That's right. Over 6 hours with no boobies. Chris tried to offer her some milk in a bottle but she wanted nothing to do with it and got super upset. She cried, he said, then cried some more. She finally gave up and fell back asleep once he put her in the swing. She loves the swing.

When I got home she was all smiles. I was so happy to see her. I missed her so much. I am just so accustomed with her being with me every second of the day.

Tea Party and Crafts Day

Daddy thought it would be a wonderful idea. He left the house with intentions of just taking Ms. Lazy for a ride. She's been begging him for a ride in the big truck. This is what he came back with.

The thing is, we decided to get rid of a whole lot of the kids' toys because they have too much. It's really overwhelming. We have no where to put them and the mess that they make is just plain ridiculous. Besides Christmas is coming and they're going to get a whole new set of them. So why did he go out and buy her this thing?

He tried to sneak in the house because he knew I would be a little upset, not only because he's getting toys when he shouldn't be but he's spending money when we agreed to be saving. *sigh* What am I going to do with this man?

When I saw what Alyssa was carrying, and she was so excited too, I immediately gave him the stink eye. He ran out in the garage to hide. How come I can say no and he can't? How did they end up at the store?

On to more fun, cheap things. Tonight was craft night for the kids. The lesson was Squares, Rectangles and Triangles. Christopher knows his shapes but lazy Lyssa is another story. I am afraid she will be so far behind because I don't spend enough time teaching her. Turns out she has been listening though, the rare occasions that I sit with her. She knew them all.

We started off on the carpet but then I realized what a stupid idea that would have been. Glue and carpet just don't mix. Time to pick up and move.

I broke out the piece of vinyl I purchased about a year ago. I knew it would come in handy. I cut the shapes from 2 of my Cardstock Matstack books. They were on sale 2 years ago and since I suck at scrapping I made good use of them.

Tada! Here are their masterpieces on the wall of fame! Alyssa was so happy. She always sees Christopher's school projects hung up on the wall and nothing with her name on it. Now she has something of her own.

Last month "Apple Dumplings" came to my son's school to take pictures. He was so excited about the whole thing. This was the result. They did a great job. I'm so proud of him. He loves the school and the teachers and he is doing excellent!


When I get some time, well I'll have to make the time, I want him to write grandma a letter. She would really love that. I'll have to scan the letter once I make it happen.

Here are some photos of the kids before I took them to the Halloween party at his school. We were lucky this year that they both wanted to wear the same costumes as last year. Good thing they still fit. That saved us some money too.

Christopher won a Chocolate Cream Cheese cake at his school party. Notice the look on their faces. He was able to force a smile but not so with Ms. Alyssa. Everyone was so tired, including me, but I got the strength to drag the kids, Ashleigh included, at 7pm that night to this party
